Photo of the Week - Week 32:

Donnybrook's AX647 is seen operating Route 44 on the Swords Road on the 3rd August 2014.

Phibsborough's AX601 featured on these pages in the past month in its new Coca-Cola tri-sided wrap. It was noted at the time that the other vehicle to be so wrapped was Donnybrook's AX647. What I had not noted at the time was that the wraps are in fact different. The general theme is the same but the names on the bottles differ. The "Share a Coke" campaign has been a prominent advertising campaign across the world, with many regions offering up their country's most used names on the sides of the coke bottle. The prime real-estate of the label being replaced by the name shows the power of a font and colour combination, with the product no doutb being Coca-Cola regardless of what the bottle actually advertises. This wrap is another bad combination of white on yellow/blue. It really doesn't work well, the red colour of Coca-Cola probably would have worked much better. Given the willingness of Coke to understand that a Coca-Cola bottle looks like a Coca-Cola, maybe Dublin Bus could return to full all-over adverts, given a bus looks like a bus.
