A change which was hidden in the last Go Ahead round of changes was the loss of the 41A. The 41A was a one way service, operated from Swords Manor via Glen Ellan to the city, offering a more direct service into the city by not serving River Valley. For this reason it officially operated in the morning peak only. However, the route was used on occassion by Harristown buses that were operating "as instructed" on the 41s, i.e. not operating an official departure, or very seldomly by late running 41Cs. With the new 41 timetables introducted on the 2nd December 2018, the 41A was withdrawn, with the morning 41C services which had previously started from Swords CBS now operating the full route from Swords Manor.

Route 41A was synonomous with services to Dublin Airport, having being introduced in 1948. The route stayed pretty much constant up until the 2000s, though since the early 1980s with more 41 and 41C services via Dublin Airport, there were only a few deparutres actually operated as 41A. By the late 90s, there was just one, the early Sunday morning 41 service to Dublin Airport only. The 41A Glen Ellan service began on the 20th March 2002, with approx 10 return journeys per weekday. The reorganisation of the 41 and 41C to their present form (41C to Swords Manor via River Valley) in 2005, the 41A was all but withdrawn, except for 2 morning departures from Swords Manor Monday to Friday. It is those departures that ended on the 30th November 2018.
