2024 - Update 17:
Phibsboro's VT49 is seen on a rare allocation to the C1 on Castle
Road on the 19th June 2024 (click on photo for larger
version).
Since the loss of the 38/A to Broadstone, Phibsboro have been limiting their VTs to the 39/A. There was a notable exception with VT47 appearing on the X25 on the 13th June. So it was somewhat of a shock to find VT49 on the C1/2 on Wednesday the 19th June. It operated a lap on the C1, before returning from Adamstown as a C2 being swapped out on Bachelors Walk. Its only the 2nd time I've come across a VT on the C-spine, so its very rare. Broadstone had allocated VTs to the 25A/B for a number of years, but with the C-Spine extension of those routes to St. John's Church, the narrowness of the roads around Sandymount make them an awkward type to operate on the routes.
